I Exist

I promise, I do. I know I said I'd write everyday for my New Year's resolution, I just haven't been writing in this journal.

Just giving you guys a heads up, I've been most active on my blog for my Japan Diary thing. I promise I'm still around, I'm just not good at checking both journals everyday.

In Japan

Like you guys didn't know already. Most of you are subscribed to my Japan-blog thingie. (If you can't post there, it's because I forgot to grant you guys access. I'll fix that after I post this.)

Anyway, I'm safe and sound and fed. There isn't much going on now. I'm the first of the international students to get here for the Spring semester. I still have jet lag pretty bad, so this is going to stay short.

Anyway, for people who haven't yet seen my other blog about Japan, feel free to visit [personal profile] maliainjapan. I've got a few posts up now, and once I get more settled and the jet lag isn't so bad, I'm hoping to get pictures and videos up too.
earthykitty: (Well fuck...)
Holy shit, I leave for the airport in an hour.

I've been waiting for this moment for years, and now I'm fucking terrified. I want to have an awesome time and learn and everything, but I'm going to miss everyone so much too. Still, it's not forever, and it's not like I won't be able to contact any of you. It's just now hitting me how far I'm going away and how long I'm going to be somewhere without being able to see some of you anytime I want.

Of course, I'm still going. Once I get past customs in Japan, I'll be ok. Hell, I'l probably be fine once I'm actually on the flight to Japan. Hopefully, I won't be missing the flight like last time I went. (Our flight to Chicago was over an hour late, and our flight to Japan had gone without us.) Still, I had been in a group that time, and Sensei knew how to work around it and get us all on the same flight.

Anyway, I have to go wake up my mom, pack last minute things, and get ready to go.

I'll miss you all! Pleaase don't expect me online within the next 48 hours or so.

Yeah, I don't have much today, but I said I would make a post everyday and damnit, I'm doing it!

Let's see....

Well, the whole Japan fiasco ended up not being a fiasco, which is nice. I still have to worry about payment for housing, but we can't exactly do that until Jan. 5th, which is also the day I leave.

I'm a bit nervous about the airport. Not so much finding my way around, but dealing with my parents who will demand to see me off. My mom's going to start crying, I'm sure, which will just make things awkward and she might try other things to guilt-trip me at the last second. I really don't want to deal with it.

On the plus side though, I got WAFFLES! I will miss them so!

First of all...

Ok, now that's out of the way.

Despite my life seemingly crumbling around me the past few days, I have to say that 2012 is already off to a pretty good start. I've got my medication issue worked out for Japan, I had an amazing time with my friends last night (Though maybe a tad too much booze, but it was good anyway. ^_^), and I woke up this afternoon with a lot less anxiety turning my stomach and a cup of hot chocolate.

New Years' resolution? I guess I have one. I just wanna be healthier. Both mentally and physically. Of course, this means actually exercising, but I know I'll get a lot of that in the next few days. Running around airports counts, right? And even if it doesn't, I've walked around the area of Nagoya where I'm going to be staying, and with the hills the way they are, just going to the convenience store down the street will make at least a tiny difference. I wouldn't say I all super excited and pumped about it, but I really do want to be healthy.

Also, thanks to all of you, and to all my buddies on Plurk for being with me the previous year. I wouldn't have made it to 2012 without you guys. (Because damn, 2011 sucked balls.) I'm happy to know that I'll be spending another year reading your posts/Plurks/etc.

Mind Dump

My brain is full and is in need of proper dumping, which for you guys means a wall of random text with little order. Feel free to skip.

Holidays should be anxiety-free. )
earthykitty: (RAGE FACE)
Under a cut because there is nothing happy here. )

Sorry for the complaining and bitching and everything, but the timing for this shit hitting the fan is really at the worst possible time. I'm just glad it hasn't got any worse. /knocks on all the wood EVER
earthykitty: (I'm surrounded by idiots)
I'll put this under a cut for you guys. Because, yeah, it's not like you haven't seen this before.

Here be the cut. )

Ok. Rant done. Just...had to get that off my chest. So...

Countdown to Japan: 7 days. (Does this sound like The Ring to anyone? <.<) I've got an emergency doctor's appointment tomorrow so I can get medication for my trip. I'm also going out to get some last minute extra clothes to take with me, so...I'll be running around tomorrow a lot. Thanks to you guys, I think I'll actually be sane when I leave.
earthykitty: (All the paperwork)
Almost a week before I fly away to Japan for about five months. It didn't really hit me that I was actually going anywhere until last night, but then, that's usually how it is with me. With the way I grew up and getting bummed out so often, I guess I've trained myself not to believe anything until it actually seemed like it was happening.

I've got a lot of things to pack, and it looks like I'll actually have to....*GASP*....make a list of stuff. (I hate lists, if you couldn't tell.) I feel like I should be packing a lot more. I'm packing about two weeks worth of clothes, my computer of course, a few books that won't be too heavy, a sketchbook, and other things like that. Just small things, since I don't want to be scrambling around for everything when I actually have to get to the airport.

I'll also be making another DW account for a blog I'll be keeping. I'm going to try to update it everyday while I'm in Japan, but it's probably going to end up being updated once a week. There will be pictures!

I'm nervous, excited, a little sad, and really happy that I'm going all at the same time. I'm going to miss everyone a lot, but I think the whole experience will be worth it all. I'll be one step closer to my dream!

Anyway, I wanna thank everyone here and those who don't have a DW too for supporting me! I love you guys!!
